Random Thoughts For A Real Cobra Commander Friday August 7, 2009

I know I’m rehashing old material again, but in honor of what will most definitely become the single worst movie since Battlefield Earth you should all witness the hilarity that is the CobraCommander Twitter account.

Yes, G.I. Joe: Rise of The Cobra opens this weekend.

And it looks to be the worst movie in years. Absolutely atrocious. I grew up on G.I. Joe and my allegiance tells me I have to see, but my brain and heart say it’d be better to sit in my living room, in my knickers, listening to Rod Stewart and quoting the original 1987 G.I.Joe movie. (BTW did you know that Don ‘Miami Vice’ Johnson stared in that beaut … Put that in your pipe and smoke it Dennis ‘I Screwed Up with Meg Ryan’ Quaid!)

But alas, I’ll be watching it next week sometime.

I’ll be the one in tears … in the corner.

First – If you are not a design nerd, then you probably don’t have a clue what the difference between Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is. Better yet, you probably don’t have a clue why anyone in their right mind would pay $1,799 American for the entire family of products.

But don’t fret my little children, the good people at GoMedia (and sponsor of the old overdrive) have a posted a full on comical-battle-royal to explain the difference.

Second I’m not sure who I stole this link from on Twitter, so I just searched and found the person with the best Avatar. Anyways, here is a collection of feral and abandoned houses in Detroit (via. sweetwizard)

Third – Crazy photos from the Big Valley Jamboree Disaster in Camrose this weekend.

Fourth I know this is a rehash of some old material, but Muse’s new United States of Eurasia track is finally on GooTube in all it’s glory.

Fifth – I have no idea what augmented reality marketing means, but Molson Dry labels that shout out crazy logos when placed on a Web Cam is pretty freaking cool (via. NitchBlog)

Sixth One hell of a Hot T-Shirt – Iron Fist. So much hot pink, so much awesome.

Seventh – Alright, I apologize for the Meg Ryan dig. That was unfair. If there is anyone I should be mad it’s Channing Tatum.

Eighth – I think I posted to it last week, but remeber that Pepsi vs. Coca-Cola Logo image that came out, well it needs to be revised a bit.

The philosophical point it makes is indeed funny and, for the most part, accurate: Coca-Cola has long been the steady brand that triumphs over Pepsi as the latter attempts to gain ground with brand gimmicks and changes. And I will be the first to admit that the Coca-Cola logo and its consistency over the years is far more supreme than Pepsi, but every time I saw this JPG come up in more and more web sites and blogs I couldn’t help but cringe at the inaccuracy and deception it engenders.
