Premium Plus Crackers Thursday January 22, 2009

Okay so this may come out of the blue, but I want to talk about Premium Plus Crackers.

Yes, I’m serious. I’m gonna talk about Crackers!.

The reason why I want to talk about Premium Plus Crackers? Simply, because their latest add campaign in Canada, is pure genius.

I smile every time this commercial pops on the tube. Some thing about exploding bowls of soup and that cheesy 70’s melody that gets me. But the best part is that I hate Crackers in my soup. I’ll never understand why Canadians crumble crackers in their soup. It’s just odd. Plus, I can’t even justify purchasing a box of crackers, because of the potential Glutastic poisoning situation. But suddenly I love Premium Plus Crackers.

And that right there, is why this is a genius campaign. Because I’m smiling for a goddamn crackers commercial.

Sharpe Blackmore Euro RSCG has done a fantastic job re-branding these crackers. That right there is an impressive feat. Because crackers are not interesting.

I’ve been talking and linking about Social Media Experts for a while now and it is a topic that I’ve been struggling to justify. While this ad campaign doesn’t really relate to the Web 2.0 and Social Media Spectrum, but it does highlight a key concepts about Social Media Experts which was touched upon in an article that I read some time ago. It mentioned that the true sign of a qualified Social Media Expert; is someone that can make the boring, interesting.

And what is more boring that Crackers?

Well done guys. Well done.
