Polaris Music Prize version 2008 Tuesday September 30, 2008

… And the winner of the Polaris Music Prize (Canada’s version of Britain’s Mercury awards which tends to follow the exact same pattern; where the committee selects an eclectic mix of the best music in Canada, including some extremely popular and world renowned artists, but tends to instill this great honor to the most obscure and unknown of the artists to enshrine the selecting committees cherished elitism) is….


So, not sure where I was on this one. It might have something to do with the fact I haven’t stepped inside a record store since the beginning of the summer. But Caribou, I know they’re not nearly as obscure as Final Fantasy was, but I would have easily chosen Holy F**k, The Weakerthans or Basia Bulat over Caribou.
