Epic Failure Monday November 20, 2006

I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again, the friends I have are some of the best in the world.

This weekend the Danyluk brothers decided to drag my sorry arse out of dodge. The idea was to get the hell out of the city, clear out my head and have a ridiculously stupid night in Canmore. Unfortunately, not even the most determined of plans ever pans out. Actually, the epic failure of the trip was only paralleled by the epic hilarity of the whole situation.

There are so many things that went wrong this weekend. Whether it was passing out at 9:00pm at the Drake Hotel or watching one of the brothers getting piled in the eye with a porcelain coffee mug. Maybe it was listening to Big Shiny Tunes 4 all night. Or maybe it was not being able to heckle the Drake’s Staurday entertainment – Travezty. With all that going wrong you’d think there was now way it could have gotten worse. Oh, but it did.

See, the next morning as we struggled through our shitty Smitty’s breakfast, the whole weekend went from crappy to surreal. It turned out that sitting across the booth from us was number two on my list epic of break-ups. Yup, the girl that left me for an unnamed hockey player via email, some seven years ago.

It was at the moment that I realized that my friends are some of the best in the world. Because with everything that had just happened, we all just sat there and let out a series of gut-wrenching laughs. It was perfect, I couldn’t ask more from my buddies.
