Gerald Turner's Passing Sunday May 31, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that my father Gerald Turner, passed away this morning at the Chinook Care Centre Hospice in Calgary. Due to COVID and the recent birth of my daughter, I was unable to attend, but he passed peacefully and painlessly after an extended battle with cancer with Bennie by his side.

Gerry lived a full life very few people will ever experience – from growing up in mountains of Mussoorie, India to his years in Ealing and growing up in the art world of London to travelling the world working on rigs across the Middle East, Canada, and South America. His stories were always engrossing and somewhat unimaginable, yet he experienced life with a kind heart, a dry wit, very few words, and an infectious chuckle.

Over thousands of cups of coffee and tea, I was lucky enough to get to know him better than most ever will. He was someone I idolized and admired, I one day hope I can match the love and admiration he had for family and friends. But given the emotions of the past week, it would be a disservice and fool-hearted to his memory to fully try and convey what the big guy meant to me at this time, so I will save those for another day.

Love you and miss you always dad,

Your ‘chubbo’
