Paddy Not Patty: 2014 Edition Wednesday March 12, 2014

So… Monday is St. Patrick’s day. Yes, it would be really hard to miss this fact. But as a red blooded irglishman, it’s my duty to remind everyone that it is Paddy Not Patty.

Yes… I pull this web site out around this time every year, but it’s a good reminder. So before you go off to get slaughtered on expired pints of stale Guinness have a bit of a read.

And while you’re at it also memorize this nugget.

Shamrock isn’t just any auld piece of clover: it’s three-leafed. Tradition holds that Saint Patrick used shamrock to teach the Trinity. Give it a bit o’ thought before ye slap a lucky four-leaf clover on yer plastic leprechaun hat.

Also while I’m lecturing people on this, I do have to be honest and admit that from 2004-2007(ish) I was guilty of ordering my fair share of Irish Car Bombs.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day all.

The Luddite Toolkit Tuesday May 5, 2009

So if you haven’t heard, I’m pretty proud of the fact that I’m an outcast when it comes my fellow designers. I’m somewhat of a self-proclaimed luddite. So it comes with exciting news that I finally took the plunge in to the cult of Apple.

Yes, kiddies, I now own my own iPod Touch (thanks to Travis and his patience).

So to celebrate this monumental technological graduation, I thought I would capture the c.t.overdrive approved luddite toolkit.

Yes, two moleskin notebooks (stuff white people like?), a Polaroid camera, an old bright f$%^ing pink shuffle and a craptastic Nokia phone. Everything a graphic designer would need without the technology. Who needs a digital SLR camera when you’ve got a Polaroid camera. Who needs a MacBook when you’ve got a Large Moleskin. Who needs a iCal when you’ve got a small moleskin….

Who am I kidding, welcome to the 21st century everyone.

Entrepreneurial Advice Wednesday April 15, 2009

It’s no secret that being an entrepeneur is an exhausting experience that can wear down the best of people. There are times when all the late nights, early mornings, missed events seem like it is all for nothing. So when I stumbled upon this entrepreneurial quote during my rounds of the great internet, I just had to post it.

Do today what others won't, so you can live tomorrow how others can't.

Do today what others won’t, so you can live tomorrow how others can’t.

I’m not trying to claim this quote, by any means. (If someone knows the source this quote I would be forever greatful) But for a guy that’s really not into motivational quotes … I’ve found this tidbit an inspirational godsend.

Mega Man 9 Wednesday October 22, 2008

I might be a bit slow on this one, but I just found out about the release of MegaMan 9. That’s right old School Mega Man for the New School console systems … at 1000 wii credits ($10) there really isn’t anything else that can be said.

Well besides … AWESOME!

So while I scramble to get my sh!t together. You know, to post some pictures of the infamous Pink hair (btw all the Gray is holding on to the pink for dear life) and Cait’s amazing walk, recovering from an exhausting weekend and juggle a couple of graveyard shifts; I thought I’d share a couple of cool little links.

First – A New Linen’s & Sh!ts has opened in Macon Mall.

Second = The very cool Icethetics Blog has a solid little offering regards a fan’s 3d rendering of the legendary Chicago Blackhawk

If you thought the original was a grumpy bugger, this one is far more pissed off.

Third – Adios FAIL WHALE, good morning SUCCESS WHALE (via laughingsquid)
