Random Thoughts For The Thermals Friday August 14, 2009

Alright, another shout out is in order to NonImage’s fantastic music series OffthebeatenTracks.tv. A couple of weeks ago, they scored an exclusive session with Portland’s own The Thermals. It’s a fantastic little acoustic session that will have you whistling for days. I’ve embedded their redention of Now We Can See to get you started.

Episode #8.1: The Thermals – “Now We Can See” from Off The Beaten Tracks on Vimeo.

First – A great advertising campaign from Flames Central for last year’s playoffs is unearthed by Adam Goetz … Too bad we lost that series.

Second – A great review of what has to be one of the best musical performances of the summer in Calgary – Pearl Jam own the Virgin Music Festival. Maybe with more performances like this, people will stop whining about having to travel to see great concerts and just embrace the ones that happen in this city.

Third – Continuing the Music theme, this shirt from Threadless is all kinds of awesome … for it’s irony.

Music Snob - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

My favorite faux brand of music, has to be Children’s Hardcore… It can only be triumphed by Children’s Screamcore.

Fourth – Reason 5,021 that you should use Twitter. John Cusak is secretly an avid user. Better yet he randomly replies to fans, which I’m told is like an act of G-O-D. he also randomly posts pictures of himself on vacation in Ireland.

Fifth – Reason 5,021 why you shouldn’t be on twitter, Stephanie Pratt is on it.

Sixth – Ridley Scott is set to direct the film adaptation of Huxley’s Brave New World (via. Poploser)

Seventh – I’m still convinced that a certain SFU professor that I know, is behind this new grading scheme for dumbass cheating students … Absolutetly convinced.

Eighth – I’m suddenly realizing that although Tim Ferriss is a pretty nice guy and a great speaker, he’s just a business leach that leverages other people’s desperation for his own personal gain. Anyways, he’s encouraging Spec Work and this is why he’s a douchebag for doing it.
