Cleaning up Ctoverdrive Wednesday May 10, 2006

I don’t know about you, but over the past little while I’ve noticed my writing slowly detraining. I don’t think I’ve ever proclaimed myself to be well versed in the English language. I know I ain’t no Shakesphere and I ain’t no English Scholar. But for the most part I have been able to fake my way through life.

Recently I’ve noticed it is taking me longer to write posts on ctoverdrive. It has nothing to do with finding content or topics to discuss; rather it has to do with editing and rewriting. The problem steams from switching between various writing styles on a daily basis. It seems switching between informal writing, business writing, technical spec writing and slacker email chains really fucks up your writing style. I’ve gone back over a couple posts in recent days and all I can do is shake my head at their poor quality.

Yesterday, I was forwarded this great article about the importance of decent website writing from Alistapart. It contains some great advise for writing for the web, in particular informal websites. After reading the article I am making a conscious decision to clean-up the writing on ctoverdrive. It won’t be in rhyme or anything, but I will try to use proper grammar and punctuation. I will also make each post flow better.

But don’t worry, my mission to clean-up my grammer and spelling will have no effect on my cursing and foul-mouth. To reassure everyone:

Poop, MOFO, Arse Pirate, Pee-Pee, Poo-poo, Slop Tart, Edmonton, Kaka, Hoo-Hoo, Shitty Titties, Gunt, C-bomb, Crap-Hole.
