Robot Rock Thursday December 13, 2007

For the next couple of days, I am headsdeep in the Music-critic.ca redesign and more importantly, compiling my top five records of 2007. I’ve mentioned it to others, but those crazy Tron rejects from France – Daft Punk pulled a miraculous coupe and landed on top my Top Five of the year with the release of Alive 2007.

In general live albums should never, ever qualify for top five status; but this one is an exception. It’s just a tour de farce of the entire Daft Punk catalogue with 60K Parisians in tow. (sans le deodorant) It’s an amazing spectacle that translates beautifully on to cold hard plastic of a Compact Disc.

To get a taste of what I’m talking about just click on the GooTube video below.

An 11 Tonne light blasting pyramid and two robotic geniuses, what else could you ask for?
