Gosling Sunday September 24, 2006

Boo-yah. So after searching for sometime, I finally found a gem at this year’s Calgary International Film Fest.

That movie is Half Nelson. A film in which Breaker High’s Ryan Gosling plays a cracked out social studies teacher in Brooklyn, who begins mentoring a 13-year old inner-city girl …

Okay, I’ll give you a second to think about that last statement. The guy from the Notebook as a crackhead. The guy dating Racheal McAdams? Yeah, I mean Young Hercules as a crackhead. On top of that the soundtrack is scored by none other than Toronto’s Broken Social Scene. Plus the reviews have been outstanding. It seems like one of those odd ball stories with conflicting dilemmas between the struggles of right and wrong. Yada, Yada … it’s got Gosling as a crackhead.

Check out the trailer yourself. But anything with a cracked out Gosling sitting in his jockeys and then gosling pulling off a full on AD-Roc dance will probably be worth the price of admission.

It shows Tuesday night at the Plaza. It’s already been restricted to rush seating. Check out the trailer at HalfNelsonthefilm.com.
