Random Thoughts for Resignation Friday Friday September 1, 2006

That’s right kiddies; my worst kept secret was finally let out of the bag. I officially put my one month’s notice in today. I think this is a fairly concise quote that explains the rationale of my decision.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. – Steve Jobs, taken from the Signals vs. Noise discussion on defining success

At a later date I’ll write more about the decision, but for now some random thoughts –

First – Here’s a revealing and interesting article about Bob Dylan from the New Yorker. The story about Joan Beitz wanting to buy him a toothbrush is priceless.

Second – I know it sounds like the beginning of a horrible joke, but a couple of days ago a British Priest decided to show his congregation he could walk on water.

He drowned.

Third – Every time I read a knowledgeforthirst beverage review, I imagine a slightly skinnier Will Farrell Character sitting upright at his keyboard under a dim light contemplating each phrase out loud. The new Yoo-hoo Dyna-Mocha review almost made me pee my pants.

Fourth – I mentioned that I went and picked up the Polaris Music Prize compilation. At 9 bones from HMV, it is worth the price of admission. Plus I have a new found favorite Canadian Rapper in Cadence Weapon

Fifth – Way to Go Sonic! Nice job on putting the boot to McDonalds.
